We can offer a personal and friendly service at your time of need.
From your first contact with us we will be here to offer guidance and support throughout your journey.
We pride ourselves on listening to the wishes of families and making the funeral a true reflection of their loved one that they have sadly lost.
Critoph & Crowe was established in 1926 by Charles Percy Critoph & William Crowe. William Crowe retired from the business in the early 1950’s. Charles Percy Critoph then managed the firm of Undertakers until 1963 when his son Eric Charles, joined the firm. They formed a business partnership in 1967, retaining the name of Critoph & Crowe.
Charles Percy retired from active participation in the firm in 1988 and died in 1996, aged 95. In 1988 Eric’s son Jonathan joined the business, they worked together until 2011 when Eric decided it was time to retire. Eric died in 2020 aged 89 leaving Jonathan as the only active member of the family running the business. Jonathan is on call 24 hours a day. Jonathan decided it was time to modernise and “move with the times” and the firm became Critoph & Crowe Ltd.
New for 2023, Jonathan has acquired a fully Electric Graphite Grey Hearse and following cars to his fleet. This will provide a dignified, quiet and Eco-friendly service to Lowestoft and the surrounding areas. These new vehicles along with the traditional Mercedes Benz fleet of Black Hearse and Limousine are available for all services including direct cremations.
The firm remains a family business with no connection with large funeral organisations, although we are members of SAIF (Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors). We pride ourselves in listening to all your wishes and requirements. We support families through their emotions at such a sad time with compassion, be it a straightforward funeral or a more elaborate funeral we take care in arranging a service that reflects your loved one and your wishes.
